THE FOOD CHANNEL
From an article in Slate on the new book, The Karl Lagerfield Diet :
Though the regimen bears the designer's famous name, it's actually the creation of Lagerfeld's Parisian physician, Jean-Claude Houdret, who pens most of the book, with Lagerfeld swooping in on occasion. The diet, also called "The Spoonlight Program," is a low-carb, low-fat, low-calorie affair that is unmistakably French. The book includes recipes for dishes such as fish soufflé, quail flambé, ham and raspberry mousse, vegetables in aspic, and roast guinea fowl with tarragon. One meal per day must consist of Slim Fast-style "protein sachets," available in delectable flavors like "cream soup," "egg-based custard," and "bread and cakes." And health-conscious readers will recognize certain recommendations as suspect: Houdret encourages the liberal use of artificial sweeteners and diet sodas and discourages exercise because it "runs the risk of making you hungry." If dieters do feel peckishat 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day this is a very real prospectthey should not despair. "You can have a little homeopathic granule if you are very hungry," Lagerfeld says indulgently.
Madame Lagerfield -
I may have indeed lost several pounds just reading the last sentence.
1 - I naturally would assume the words little and granule are mutually inclusive. Maybe Im wrong. Someone who eats quail flambe may have huge, ginormous granules sitting around their kitchen. (Have you actually ever seen your kitchen?) Here on Planet Earth, we have much to teach you. When I think granules, Im thinking the crumbs that fall out of the bread bag at the end. Thats granules and unless they are also flambeed, they will most likely not satisfy my hunger.
2 - Nothing in my house or body is homeopathic, so frankly I have no fucking idea what you mean here. It sounds like something involving a bottle dropper and bitter black liquid.
3 - For your American market, may I suggest the following changes :
Fish Souffle = Tuna Casserole
Quail Flambe = Fried Chicken
Ham and Raspberry Mouse = Shake N Bake Pork Chops w/ Apple Sauce
Vegetables in Aspic = Jello and Fruit Cocktail
Roast Guinea Fowl /w Tarragon = Shake N Bake Chicken
Bon Chance! with all that.
Remaining Most Respectfully Yours,
Mssr. Hugo
