STREET MUSIC

Someone in the building across the street is playing Old Rock and Roll really loud. Neal Diamond and “Tiny Dancer”. It’s like sitting in a room and hearing a radio in another room from thirty years ago.

If I had a fire escape outside the window, I would sit on it and dangle my legs while smoking a cigarette. I would sway and maybe sing along the way you do when you’ve heard the song tons and have absorbed all the lyrics.

On the street, someone would have opened a fire hydrant and kids would scream and run back and forth in the spray. They’d look up at the Old Man swinging his feet and singing “Levone”. He’s crazy they’d whisper in awe and then scamper off giggling.
