THE LIVING IS EASY
Summer, it seems, is over. Where was I?
People say as One gets older, Time flies faster. Boy, does it ever. The Summers of Youth that seemed to stretch on and on are gone. Day after day of making dirt roads for our toy trucks have flown by. The Age when a month actually meant 30-days-made-of-24-hours are long past.
I think it may be due to lack of activities. I no longer see every day full of Things To Do. Now days seem full of Things To Get Through. Getting older is a matter of making goals smaller. This isnt a bad thing. Lower expectations = better results. Deciding how to handle dinner is not a small feat. When we get the food, we are humbled by the result of our decision.
People sometimes ask me, What can Polly do?, meaning what tricks can she perform. I think over the list. She can Sit (aka, Lay Down as she interprets it). She comes when I call her. She manages not to pee in our bed.
Really, what more should I ask? Have I lowered my expectation or have I just achieved my goals? There is not much I need Polly to do. She rarely ever does anything wrong. The truth is (and it obviously applies to Life as all Truth does), what more do I need?
