PICTURE PERFECT


Yesterday my good friend Real Live Preacher wrote a post about his dog Lucy and the portrait I made of her. I got over 1300 hits (!!!!) on Standing Room Only from his post and inquiries about making pics of other pets.

First... 1300!!!! Whoa! Does the RLP have a huge amount of readers or what? SRO has, like, ten of you who read all the time and post. Ten, I might add, who I adore and continue to post for. If I had (at the minimum) 1300 reading SRO every day, I would be a very Nervous Nelly indeed. I might think twice about posting photos of “Jesus in a Dress teaching young boys how to play baseball”. The thought of such self-censorship makes me squirrelly.

Second, I am flummoxed as to what to tell the people inquiring about making a portrait. RLP generously made a donation to SRO via Paypal and others have shown their appreciation in ways I’ve loved greatly. The whole “Making Portraits for Money Idea” has, however, made me queazy. I’m not very good in the area of self worth. How much should I charge for a portrait? Should I charge anything for something I love to do and do as an act of Love (to this point)? Oy. Such drama and, well, thought.

However the point is this : thank you RLP for the props. I did it because I love you. Point blank. As for the rest, God does love a good joke and I am caught, once again, with my pants down.
