I woke up this morning, not hung over, but strangely refreshed. My wife and I spent a quiet night in last night, watched a couple of episodes of the Sopranos, then the best of the "Just for Laughs" comedy special that was on the sole Canadian channel available here. CBC being the only reprieve I have here in Detroit from the assinine news reporting that dominates the TV, and thanks to "Hockey Night in Canada", I can still watch my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. This morning I reflected on how blessed I was this past year. I got married to the most wonderful woman a man could ever ask for. She's beautiful, intelligent, warm, kind and I am the luckiest man in the world for being able to spend every day with her. I'm also blessed with wonderful in laws (how many guys can say that!), and great brother in laws. Thanks guys, you have helped make my transition here even more easy.
Here's to a great 2003 for all of us.

Reading through some of my favourite blogs here at Salon. Tim had a review of my favourite band, The Tragically Hip, which he saw last night at Copps Colliseum in Hamilton. Jan at Secular Blasphemy gave a recap of his New Years Eve, and I was thrilled to find that my good friend Amanda had decided to return to blogging! Welcome back Amanda, I look forward to reading your work again.

Happy New Years everyone!!!
