I'm starting to feel responsible for reporting my blog hiatuses. Like now, I feel guilty that I didn't blog for almost two weeks and didn't let anybody know that I wasn't going to be blogging and maybe y'all are thinking that I got kidnapped or ran off with the milkman or something.
I didn't. I did go to Chicago for a few days, though, which was fantastic. We went to the wedding of a dear friend, and made a long weekend of it. We managed to go to the top of the Hancock building, Navy Pier, American Girl Place, the Lego store, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum, and the Shedd Aquarium. We ate Chicago stuffed pizza, seafood at Shaw's Crab House, and Mexican food at Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill (this, for me was like a visit to mecca, feeling as I do about Mexican food in general and Rick Bayless' recipes in particular, and deserves its own separate blog entry).
So, anyway, it's taken me a few days to get back into the swing of things.
I hope to get back to blogging this week, but in the meantime I wanted to alert you to this site, which features Weight Watchers recipe cards from 1974. The absolute lack of appeal of any of these food items is astounding. I can't believe anyone ate this stuff! My personal favorite is Caucasian Shashlik, whatever the heck that is.
