The other day I was thinking that sometimes it’s actually good when someone goes away for a while, because you have to do things you might not normally do. Of course, some of those things are simply tedious (taking out the garbage) but others are actually interesting and worth doing from time to time, rather than delegating them to someone else. Paying the bills, for example. I used to pay all the bills before Lucía was born, but then I took maternity leave. For four years. Now that Andrés is in the middle of the ocean, I had to relearn how to use Quicken, and now he has that handy-dandy online bill pay thing set up, and it’s actually kind of fun to do. I like that little ka-ching noise it makes.
However, I’ve decided NOT to change any of the burnt-out lightbulbs around the house. Andrés usually does that, and I just don’t want to do it, so I’m not gonna.
