Oh My How We Have Grown

In result of my discussing the issue of the Black Muslim religion on a discussion forum, I have decided to post a bit on my personal feelings on human evolution, and how lucky we are to witness a major change in human life.

It all started with my discussing older religions. It seems to me that older, well established, if not downright ancient religions tend to have high instances of discrimination and even hatred, possibly as a direct result of remaining unadulterated after well over a thousand years. Over 1,000 years for a religious belief system is a very large number to digest.

Those ancient religions run some very deep roots into the past... and a past that was based upon never ending life-long wars, tribes, living off the land, and survival. Education and tolerance was not then what it is now.

If you stop to think, mankind in general has been in the complete dark in regards to human equality for it's entire lifetime, up until very recently. The strides we have made to bridging gaps in the last one-hundred years due to communication and travel is mind boggling indeed. If one stops to truly think about it, we as a human race are emotionally/mentally/culturally evolving at a very rapid pace, and hopefully will continually do so positively.

I know just a simple matter of… say… 25 years has made a major impact upon civilization as we have known it. Perhaps one day soon religion can break these oppressive chains as well.

And then as I sit here I draw other conclusions. 200 years pales into comparison to the thousands we have existed as “highly evolved” functioning beings. And yet, the recent boom in evolving at an emotional and life functioning level is astonishing. Due to major changes in communication and travel, the countries which have been able to afford such things have made huge strides in bridging gaps. Unfortunately, many countries which don’t have the financial backing to increase communication, travel and education will evolve at a much slower pace.

I wonder what all that it is we shall see unfold in our lifetimes? Will it be positive? I do know my generation is extremely different from that of my grandparents as far as their views of people. From gender equality to refusal to back up wars in favor of peace, we are living in very interesting times of advanced technology and understanding, aren’t we? It’s simply amazing to me, if you just stop and think about it…
