You Know It Life has always had this way of TOTALLY changing me by sending a huge ass shock through my system. It is so potent, in fact, that I am sure if I were to stand outside at precisely midnight of any said major event, I would be able to touch the moon if I reached out far enough. No, wait, I think that is more like Saturn. Better fit. See, I have these life shattering cosmic wake up calls, and god damn they hurt so bad. Sounds like such a cliché, but can’t help it, it’s so true. The little glass houses we live in are so easily broken. Positive note is there is always a hidden miracle. *wink* I am rambling. It is late, and my skin tastes salty. This means I need to take a long hot bath, light some candles, pop in a CD and enjoy the state of nirvana I am in. Now, back to the music. (Oh, and I do know who the Meat Puppets were, and I never cared for them. The below song wasn't any good until Nirvana did it, so there. Sweet? Meek? God fearing Christians? I remember as a small kid going to a large "religious convention" with my grandparents. It was a large gathering of thousands Jehovah’s Witnesses in St. Petersburg, Florida, and outside people were picketing with signs that said “What about 1975?” I asked my grandmother what happened in 1975 and she told me not to ask questions, because the devil liked to plant seeds of doubt. Never question the religion, ever. The religion was, of course, God’s divine channel, and to question that would be the only sin God could not forgive. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe anybody who is NOT a Jehovah’s Witness is evil and ruled by Satan the devil himself. Catholic? You are evil. Baptist? You are evil. Can’t make up your mind? Evil also, so evil god is going to kill you AND your minor children. Any religion is condemned for being part of “Satan’s system,” so therefore when Armageddon arrives (Judgment Day) he will kill everybody that is not a Jehovah’s Witness, including babies and children. If their parents are not Jehovah’s Witnesses, God will open the earth and swallow the babies whole, or burn them alive with fire, or any other means of destruction. Harsh? Ask a Jehovah’s Witness next time they knock on your door. My grandmother would giggle and say that the birds would eat the flesh off of dead Catholic's bodies, or anybody who wasn't a Jehovah's Witness, for that matter. She would grin and quote that scripture often. For years I wondered about this death and destruction to all issue along with 1975 and many other doubts. As a 10 year old I found it disgusting to think god would kill babies, so I asked about it. “Why can’t we adopt the babies and children? Children and babies are innocent?” But, the answer I got  from the elders was do not question God, and  how wrong it was I even ask such a question, why, I sounded apostate, which is more evil than evil! I rebelled in my later teen years and over time did a heavy amount of research and realized what a strange cult that religion is. Talk about a wake-up call. Here are some examples of some of their false prophecies:   October 8, 1966 Awake! "How Much Longer Will It Be?" and under the subheading "6,000 Years Completed in 1975." Watchtower, July 1, 1974, p 397 "It also tells us that this millennium must be preceded immediately by the most destructive war in all human history. We can now see the political rulers... being gathered... for that War of all wars..." Kingdom Ministry, May 1974, p. 3 "Yes, the end of this system is so very near! Is that not reason to increase our activity?...Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end." The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah; 1971; 2nd ed.; p. 216 "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom." Kingdom Ministry, June 1969, p. 3 "in view of the short time left, a decision to pursue a career in this system of things is not only unwise but extremely dangerous....Many young brothers and sisters were offered scholarship or employment that promised fine pay. However, they turned them down and put spiritual interests first." "Why Awake is Published" [before Nov 8th 1995] Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away." [After Nov. 8 1995 reference to '1914 generation' deleted] "Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things." "Does this admission of making mistakes stamp them as false prophets? Not at all, for false prophets do not admit to making mistakes."
