An interesting website...

www.unansweredquestions.org

It's been a while since I actually learned about this website from my friend Nate, but I revisited the site this weekend and remembered how interesting and disturbing it actually is.  Essentially, it's  devoted to asking a lot of questions about 9/11 and investigating discrepancies between the official story and the facts as reported by the media.  The site doesn't go so far as to say, explicitly, that Bush and company knew about the attacks, but it is insinuated throughout, and a coverup is certainly alleged.

I actually think the site is relatively evenhanded, especially compared the bluster and accusations that fly on the links page.  Don't get me wrong--there's an agenda here--but it's at least a little more reasoned.

The timeline is the most interesting section of the site.  There are a lot of things that are woven together, from Israeli involvement to oil contracts to post-attack coverup.  It's pretty easy to dismiss a lot of it.

But here's the thing--there's a lot of it that it's not easy to dismiss at all.  I'm not a big conspiracy-believer, at all--most of them just require too much coverup to be believable.  But this is one of the most studiously well-documented conspiracy theories out there--the sheer volume of the research on the site is absolutely stunning, and it's not from obscure leftist sites but rather comes from standard newspapers and television coverage, all cited and linked.  It's worth looking at the timeline because of this work.  As my wife can attest, the first time I was directed to the site I ended up reading the whole damned thing, and it literally took days.

I'm not a Bush fan, to say the least, but I don't buy the insinuation that the administration knew about, let alone orchestrated, the attacks.  That's too much.  But there are a lot of things on the site that cause one to raise an eyebrow. Why were so many documented warnings from other countries ignored?  What in the world happened with the jets scrambling out to intercept the planes?  And why in the world has there been such an incredible amount of official resistance to the investigation, ranging from presidential lobbying of Tom Daschle to not investigate to attempting to appoint Obfuscator-in-Chief Henry Kissinger?

It's pretty disturbing, I'll tell you.  Check it out.
