Here's What I Miss Today

We've lived in Tunisia for seven months now.  I have enjoyed our time here, and will continue to enjoy the somewhere-between-a-few-days-and-three-months-depending-upon-the-war that we have left.  But I'm an American, ultimately, and I'm used to having things and people and whatnot that one can procure in the US.  Here's what I'm missing today:

--Good, trashy Mexican food.  I love Mexican food.  But Mexican just isn't a global cuisine yet, so it's darned hard to get it outside of the Americas.  We can't even make it properly here, because there are a number of ingredients that don't exist in Tunisia, so we're really missing out.  This is my first goal upon arriving in the US this summer.

--Good beer available on demand.  It is a beautiful spring day here, and I would like to be able to sit on my patio and look at the ocean and drink a nice beer, like a Rogue Shakespeare Stout or maybe a Sierra Nevada.  Instead, it's Lowenbrau in the can, my friends.  Yikes.

--Drivers who can be counted upon to remain in only one lane at a time.

--American grocery stores.  Particularly specialty stores, like Fresh Fields/Whole Foods or Sutton Place Gourmet.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................

--College basketball tournament games that begin before 6 PM my time.
