It's officially moving into tourist season here, and there are European tourists everywhere.

An interesting phenomenon I'm discovering is the feeling of superiority over other non-Tunisians here.  I see all these Germans/French/Brits walking around Sidi Bou Said near our place, just getting off the enormous tour bus, and I can't help but think something along the lines of "you sorry, sorry bastards.  If only you knew Tunisia like I know Tunisia.  Then you'd go to Egypt instead."

No, that's not true.  There's great stuff here.  But I can't help but feel like I'm cooler than these tourists, since I'm a resident.  And also because they're Eurotrash. Not all of them.  But most of them, of course.

I have a very peculiar sense of foreboding today.  I honestly have no idea why.  I can't pin it to anything about kids, politics, whatever.  I don't know where it's coming from.  But I can't deny that it's there.
