Middle of the night blogsurfing

I've been up since 3-ish, surfing your blogs. What a bunch of astute people y'all are. I checked out the new Virtual Occoquan "Fat Cat Issue"

http://www.voccoquan.com/

and then selected The Barbaric Yawp's piece "Enron Remembered." I like what is said there about entrepreneurs:

It seems that entrepreneurs who cannot possibly find some way of creating something of worth can always insinuate themselves between the producer and the consumer. They play a fast-and-loose shell game that generates a lot of motion and misdirection. No matter which shell we innocents choose, the pea never appears. The cold, hard fact is: there is no pea. It was never there in the first place.

I was doodling on a notepad just the other day:

Just about everything we consume is ill-gotten. Fiona wonders if maybe the Shaker way isn't the solution, or something like it. Not much profit for the elite, there. That is always the problem. There are too many vultures ("entrepreneurs") around who don't want to do any real work themselves. If everyone pulled their own weight, nobody would be able to exploit anyone else, theoretically.

What took them so fucking long?

From Capitol Hill Blue: "Dems Plan to Undermine America to Beat Bush", January 6. (What took me so long to find this...) They're essentially planning to start putting our thoughts out there.

The talking points outline a strategy to raise public doubts of the President's real intentions, including:

- Saying the war is about oil and will be fought to benefit oil companies that have long supported Bush and the Republican party

- Claiming the Bush administration has "manufactured" evidence against Saddam Hussein and used that evidence to encourage Britain and other allies to join the American fight against Iraq

- Suggesting a wartime economy is the only way the administration can revive the country's lagging economic situation

- Both President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are controlled by oil and defense industry special interest groups

(No mention here, I notice, of their alien connections -- Fi)

- The war on terrorism is a failure because Osama bin Laden is still at large

- America is unprepared for another terrorist attack because of White House preoccupation with Iraq

- War will increase the country's economic woes

- Bush will be forced to raise taxes to finance the war

Everybody Stop

Stop the shopping. Stop downloading MP3 music. Stop the "extreme sports." Stop the porn site surfing. Stop the mountain biking. Stop the football watching. Stop the daydreaming. Stop the interior decorating. Stop the doggy play dates. Stop the drinking and drugging and cigarette smoking. Get off the cell phone and stop driving that SUV. And consider this:

http://www.studyworld.com/sedition_act_of_1798.htm

From that same historical period: "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle" -- Edmund Burkes

If you missed the coverage of the antiwar rally in Washington, or if you were disappointed not to be able to get any realistic sense of just how big it was, listen to this (please listen to this):

I was struck by how prominent the voices of black leaders are in this antiwar effort. I am more than willing to embrace their leadership. I take back what I said about Al Sharpton's hair. Shift focus to his belly: it is full of fire. Al Sharpton has exactly the right energy for now. I foresee dirty politics against him in the near future. But don't let that distract you if it happens. Let it inspire you to fight back even more passionately.

And here's one more thing: a petition to initiate impeachment proceedings against the fanatic in the White House. Who do we think will be big enough to initiate this? It only needs one member of the House of Representatives to start the ball rolling. I say someone has got to do this. Someone has got to sacrifice his or her political career, here, for justice. Send petition to your congressperson of choice, everybody.

I'm passing on stuff here from Right Wing Slayer blog. If you really want to be sick, see latest posting there about burying war dead in mass graves.

http://www.rightwingslayer.blogspot.com

And if all this stuff isn't enough to get you fired up, you must be dead. OK now, back to your filthy distractions.
