A Meeting of The Accordion Club
Yesterday afternoon was the first time I attended the accordion club. Mostly oldsters playing oldies on their amplified squeezeboxes. This has taken the place of the old Wurlitzer organ -- the new midi programs add rhythm and all kinds of sound effects. There were a few young players, like the kid in the first frame. He was very intense and played incredibly well. There was even a "Pat", (second to last frame). She was difficult to remove from the stage, whereas most of the others were bashful. There was a group of church lady players with matching outfits. My teacher (photo #5) tried to get me to play my one little pathetic song, but I got nervous and refused. I promised to play something next time. One of my favorites was the dreamy lady in photo #4, who played Stardust and made a lot of mistakes. But I loved them all.
