Thomas Friedman is playing games

Thomas Friedman is really irritating me these days. For such a well informed man, he seems to be projecting an incredible amount of naivete. It's not believeable. Is he just another shill for the Bush agenda, another wolf in sheep's clothing, then? In this morning's NYT piece, I like this paragraph best (below). After saying that he doesn't believe the polls which show a suspect level of support among Americans for a war (I have been saying that I don't believe the polls either, for a long time now), he goes on to say:

And that leads to my dilemma. I have a mixed marriage. My wife opposes this war, but something in Mr. Bush's audacious shake of the dice appeals to me. He summed it up well in his speech last week: "A liberated Iraq can show the power of freedom to transform that vital region by bringing hope and progress into the lives of millions."

Come on. I think that Mr. Friedman should listen to his wife more and do whatever she says.

Another bad sign: Friedman gets mention in the most recent installment of wicked comic Get Your War On: (thanks to DJ Joel for bringing this to my attention)

If you haven't yet checked out GYWO, see this page for some especially powerful material about the Bush assault on girls' and womens' reproductive rights around the world -- warning: this kind of brutal truthhumor is not for the squeamish. But it is totally righteous, in our opinion.

And be sure not to miss this installment, either!
