Calling All Queers I need some input from my gay friends out there. One of my clients, a woman who is a wedding-planner, wants to expand her business by serving gays as well as heteros. I am charged with designing a tasteful mailing piece. Any suggestions you might have, or anything you could tell me about gay unions would be very helpful. I had been designing a piece for her that showed a photo of a hetero couple from a wedding she did. But we don't think that would be the best presentation to potential gay customers. We want to do a different approach for them but must somehow combine a message to both men and women in the same mailing. We don't want to be flippant or trite. Do Social Conservatives Sanction Rape? The more I thought about Jeb Bush refusing to let a mentally retarded rape victim have an abortion, the more it seems to me that he was sending a message that rape is OK. If the victim is forced to suffer the consequences of the crime, how is that justice? How is that supporting a woman's right not to be raped? What about a helpless person's right not to be raped? So now this woman is nothing but a baby-making machine, how could a 'severely retarded' woman understand what was happening to her? And who assumes care of the baby? I would like to find out more about this case and get back to you about it. I do think that people who insist that rape victims be denied access to abortion if they wish it are sanctioning rape.
