About me

I'm a freelance writer, cookie fiend, Scrabble fanatic and mother, living just outside of Washington, DC., with my husband, two young daughters, two cats and a dog. My second daughter was just born on March 3, 2004, so bear with me if the blog appears to be abandoned at times!

Not too long ago (1999-2002) I was a reporter for the Circuits section of The New York Times, and before that (1996-1999) a tech reporter for The Chronicle of Higher Education. These days I'm working part-time -- writing for the Times and other publications -- and trying to scramble up this learning curve called motherhood.

Got an interesting tip related to search engines, libraries, 21st century research and the role of natural language processing?  I want to soak up everything I can. Bring it on.
