Reunion

I hope everyone had a safe and joyous holiday weekend.  The Pipeline Family spent a very enjoyable four days in Kansas, seeing friends and family.  In some cases, friends that have not been seen for many years, as I attended a reunion of sorts.  It was great to see some of my old crew, but I ended up playing with my friends' kids almost as much as I did with my friends.  That's not a bad thing, though.  My friends ended up with some pretty enjoyable children.

We finished our reunion late in the night, sans children, by playing some pool, and then we said so long until who knows when?  We always say we shouldn't wait X number of years until we do this again, but you know how that goes.  It wouldn't have happened this time if my friend Clint hadn't taken the initiative and hosted a get-together.

I'm glad he did.  It's good to see the people who knew you way back when.  We change as we tread along life's path, but that doesn't change who we started the journey with.  For me, there is a lot of value in maintaining connections with that small group of people who know just what it was like to live in that small world I inhabited between 1974 and 1987.  I can tell my son and daughter and wife about it, but they weren't there.  Only a very few people know that world in a way that approximates how I knew it.  It was good to raise a few glasses and laugh with them again.

The Seer: Back In The Saddle

It didn't look good for the Seer after the Thanksgiving Day Debacle that left us at 0-2.  But we finished strong for a 10-5 overall record, and we now sit at 96-76, good for a 55.8% success rate against the spread.  It's not where we want to be, but it's a step in the right direction.
