Bullriding on OLN
I've been watching a lot of bullriding on the Outdoor Life Network. I hadn't seen OLN until about four months ago, when a cable lineup change brought it into the house. They show a lot of hunting shows, "Survivor" reruns, the Tour de France, the NHL...and bullriding.
I never would have guessed I'd like it, but I do. Linus and Jane have both watched it with me, and I think they like it, too. I know Linus does.
Crazy things happen when the guys get off the bulls during a ride. Bulls pushing riders around with their horns while theyre down, or worse yet, kicking them in the face, or even worse than that just rearing up with all their weight and force and slamming a hoof down on a guy's ankle or shin. I've never seen anything really bad happen, but of course they edit these telecasts pretty aggressively. I have seen guys go face-first into a railing post, pop right up and walk away. Many of the riders now wear a helmet like a hockey mask instead of the coboy hat, but you still see some pretty sweet hats.
But overall, you see some pretty tough hombres, both riding and being ridden. Tonight one of the announcers screamed, in a deep southern drawl: "Did you see Midnight just destroy Jasper's groin!!??"
