Emptying the dishwasher and putting the clean dishes away seems to take hours sometimes.  The only way I can speed up the task is to hum Flight of the Bumblebee to myself as I work.

There is now a successful vegetable curry sauce in my fridge, waiting patiently for some nice poultry meatballs.

I chopped up about 1/4 green onion, 1/4 zucchini and 1/4 onion.  Blitzed all this together in the blender and added a bit of curry powder (1/2 tsp or so).  Then I sauteed in olive oil.  I took a taste of the sauce, to see if I was on track duplicating the sauce my Spanish friend had made and I almost threw up.  It was so bitter.  Of course, it hadn't cooked yet.  I was convinced it would be a failure, but after 1/2 hour of gentle cooking, the bitterness disappeared and it became as magnificent as I'd remembered.  I added water as it cooked, to make it a bit saucier, and not just a thick mass of mashed veggies.

Now, to make up some tiny turkey meatballs for lunch tomorrow.

Tomorrow night is my stepson's 9th birthday party.  He has requested Spaghetti alla Carbonara.  I'll use Nigella's recipe, but will have to double or quadruple the recipe, I suppose, even though her portions are always incredibly generous.  Let's see, I'll be feeding 3 adults and 5 children.  Maybe I'll just triple it.
