The hard boiled eggs were the hit of the kids' party.  Forget cake, ice cream, pigs-in-a-blanket.  Next year I'm just giving them hard boiled eggs.

Marty (my, he's patriotic) has given me a price quote on 6 veal shanks:  At $6.98 per pound, six of them would cost approximately $50 plus shipping.

Maybe I'll shop around a little more, but otherwise that sounds reasonable to feed six people.  I've never made osso bucco, so I'm going to spend the weekend studying a few recipes--and then choose which victims to invite to supper.  Normally I wouldn't invite people over for a first-time recipe, but with $50 invested I'll just have to think of it as an adventure.

And now, after a day of many kidlets, much noise, & much junk food, I need to take the dog out for some fresh air, peace, and excercise.
