On a whim, inspired by my own previous post, I guess, I went to Google, typed in "meaning of life" (I can't believe I hadn't done that yet!) and hit "I'm Feeling Lucky".  Looks like some interesting reading, and The Meaning of Life Part II:  Chapter 4 ""So What?" contains a link to a helpful introduction on memes, which I needed.

I am going to turn my reading towards the Consolations of Philosophy for a while, and see what happens.  I predict many happy things.

I saw that the debate about housewifery continues to be waged over at Why Your Wife Won't Have Sex with You.  Betty Friedan's "the problem that has no name"  is apparently also the problem that won't go away.  But Julia Deckham Gray wisely equates women who feel no sense of purpose in their lives, who feel powerless or stuck, with men who feel just the same way.  It no longer seems a question of The Feminine Mystique, but a question of some deeper existential angst on the part of individuals in general.

I think it goes to show you that no matter what fights have been waged and won in the past, no individual, male or female, is ever exempt from the struggle of investing life with meaning.
