Sometimes supper just appears out of the blue.

This afternoon my husband brought home two authentic New York Strombolis that a friend of his sent him via UPS.  They were pretty delectable, layers of sturdy, tender dough wrapped around melted cheese, thin slices of ham, pepperoni, sausage and green peppers.  I can't imagine what I would weigh if I lived in NYC.  (There is evidently a positive side to living in a culinary wasteland.)  The Stromboli was so good I know that it's pointless, absolutely pointless, even to try duplicating it.

We received this colorful email later in the evening:

Normally those things are like 1 lb a piece. We told the guy to make them extra special nice. I didn't think he was going to go as far as he did. We told them that they were going to a good friend in Minnesota who needs some Strombolis or he's gonna lose his mind. I printed the UPS label for 2 lbs. prior to going to pick up the food. I get there & the guy lays 2 pizza boxes on the counter. "What's this? I needed Stromboli, not pizza". He says "they're Strombolis I made as if I were going to give them to the President". I peeked in & was like "there's somebody's arm in there dude". I told him about the UPS tag. He weighed them in front of me. 5.5 lbs just for the food. I had to go back & void the UPS. A couple of the guys there got on the phone & ordered more of the same, but I didn't stick around to see them eat.
