Mr. Rogers Revisited
All right, I’m about to get all sappy and disgusting here. I’m warning you ahead of time, so no complaining.
A couple of weeks ago I told you how much I loved watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood with my girls and how sad I was they have outgrown the show. My middle daughter, the one who watched “The Holy Grail” for the first time, knows how I feel about Mr. Rogers.
She was home sick yesterday, and I was in my bedroom working on the computer. She shouted from the other room, “Dad, Mr. Rogers is on. Wanna come watch him with me?”
She doesn’t watch Mr. Rogers anymore. This was clearly a gift of love for the old man. Hmm, decision time. Do I get my work done or do I run to Mr. Rogers?

Sitting on the couch watching Mr. R. with my daughter. It doesn’t get any better than that. I was also aware that this might have been the last time. He comes on at 1:30pm and all my kids are in school.
It wasn’t one of the best “Mr. Rogerses” I’d ever seen, but I didn’t care. He didn’t visit the crayon factory, but he did interview a Ukrainian Mandolin player with a mullet.
You take what you can get.
If the whole show had been nothing but feeding the fish and talking with that harpy, Lady Elaine, I wouldn’t have cared.
Watching Mr. Rogers with my little girl makes everything seem okay.
