Movies
Okay, so I like movies. A lot. I’ve got decent taste, but not highbrow, if you know what I mean. I call them movies, not films.
A movie makes me feel better when I’m overwhelmed by being a pastor, which is pretty much all the time. I especially love a good movie on Sunday night, which is the greatest night of the week for folks in my line of work.
My taste leans toward quirky and weird. I like things that are out of the ordinary, and I’m always on the lookout for my next “find”. Here is a short list of some favorites.
And here are some new ones that I’ve fallen in love with this year:
All or Nothing
Amelie (favorite line: “I’m nobody’s little weasel”)
Bottle Rocket (precious – I love Owen Wilson)
Monsoon Wedding
Snatch (because nothing is funnier than Cockney sarcasm)
Tampopo (for everyone who has ever watched a kung fu movie)
Waiting for Guffman
Waking Life (Thank you Pascale for this tip. The animation is unique. It's a celebration of every intellectually eccentric person you've ever known)
Has anyone found a blog that mostly reviews movies? I’d like to find one that would point me to the interesting and offbeat stuff that I like.
I’d also love it if you would leave a comment and tell me about a movie you’ve fallen in love with. If you absolutely must tell us how much you liked “The Matrix”, go ahead, but assume we all know about the big hits.
Let me hear from you. I need a good movie!
