I’m Back
I took a week off from serious writing and used that week to remember what my life was like before I started Real Live Preacher.
I didn’t write about things back then. I was a father, a minister, a husband, and a web designer. I went about my day. I watched TV and movies at night.
Now I write about things. That’s the difference. I didn’t and now I do. And now writing has become a big part of my identity. I think of myself as a writer.
I think I needed a week to remind myself that I don’t have to write, but I want to very badly. Keeping “have to” and want to” straight is important.
So I’m back and ready to get into the blog schedule again. Write your guts out, take a breath, and write your guts out again. I love it.
I think I’m in this for the long haul. I don’t know what will become of the Real Live Preacher blog. I don’t even want to know. All I know is that tomorrow I will post part one of a story that is important to me. Having posted part one, I will be committing myself to more than just part two.
I will be committing myself to the eternal deadline of the next essay. I love that pressure. I need it. I must have the deadline, or I will create nothing.
This then is blogging, and it is good. Count me in.
