And now for something completely different. How about a little fun?
God Bless the Good People at AOL
In this day and age, when corporate greed seems to have driven every decent human impulse out of the free market, it’s good to see that at least one large company still has a heart.
I’m talking about the good people at AOL. God bless them. In spite of the fact that their company faces unthinkable financial challenges because of the increasing popularity of broad band connections, they still take the time to send me a free CD case every couple of months.
Have you gotten one of AOL’s complimentary CD cases? They’re adorable! These are the cutest little tin boxes, perfect for carrying CDs around in your briefcase or purse. As a courtesy, so you will understand that this is not just any kind of a box, but a CD carrier, a dummy CD is provided inside.
Before you discard this worthless CD, remember: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The dummy CD makes a nice coaster.
I have a nice little collection of these boxes now - more than I need, actually. If anyone from AOL is reading this, I want to tell you that I got the message. You’re wonderful, caring people, and you obviously love me more than cake. You can stop now. It’s embarrassing, really. Send them instead to people less fortunate, people who don’t know if anyone in the world cares for them. The world is full of people who need love, and many of them have nary a case for their CDs, so I’m told.
Of course I’ll miss the regular reminders of your affection, but let’s share the love, shall we? Send those CD cases to some other people, and let’s make this world a better place.
Kiss Kiss,
Real Live Preacher
