I Miss Posting
When I write something, I want to put it online immediately. That’s the cool thing about blogging. You write it and people can read it right away. Instant gratification.
They say our modern need for instant gratification is one of our biggest problems. I believe that all the way down to my shoes. Doesn’t change anything though. When I want something, I want it now. When I write something, I want people to read it right then.
This business of writing things for the book and not letting anyone read them is no fun at all.
Essays completed for the book:
- “I’m Sorry for What I Said About the Moon”
- “This is What I Say About the Moon.”
- “I Eat TV Preachers”
- “Let Him Be Called Real Live Preacher”
- “Just To Sit and Cry and Not be Bothered”
Essays in progress for the book:
- “Hard Preaching” – Preaching in the weeks when you feel like hell.
- “No Title Yet” – The story of the night our friends lost their premature son.
- “Jonah and the Soup” – Another in the Rabbi Jonah stories.
- “A Father’s Blessing” - The story of one of my father's finest moments.
I wrote a couple of things that are probably too dark for the book. One is called, "Money on the Barrelhead," and the other is , "We Were the Droids You Were Looking For."
I don't think either will make it into the book. "Money on the Barrelhead" is so dark and horrible. I wrote it after I read about a little girl who was raped and killed. I'll probably put them online once I'm sure they aren't going to be used. Neither will be fun to read, but they are both true, so I wrote them.
Tomorrow is Tuesday. I'll get the girls off to school, and then I have the whole morning to write. I can't wait.
