My Changing Life
My life is in flux right now. Some of you who have read this blog from the beginning know that I was a pastor and a web designer who started writing back in 2002. Now I'm a pastor and a web designer and a writer.
I am three things and that's one thing too many. Right now I am actively engaged in trying to increase the amount of time I give to writing and decrease the amount of time I give to web design. I want to leave the pastoring part pretty much as is. It's a matter of money and balance. Sadly, making a living as a writer is difficult if not impossible. I am managing to make a few changes, but the changes are coming slowly. Writing is hard for me. My output has slowed greatly since the early days of Real Live Preacher. This is mainly because I put about twice as much time into everything that I write now. I have no choice in this. I can't put something online until I'm done with it, and my idea of when something is done has changed quite a bit.
My new relationship with The Christian Century is helping matters. I've finalized a deal with CC, and a number of my essays will be appearing on their site in the months to come. I'll simply link to them from here. The first one was "Susan and the Cookie Man." The second essay will appear on their website sometime tomorrow. It's called, "The Gospel According to Anna." Man, I worked hard on this one. It even has a companion website that you're going to love. Sorry, I can't reveal the nature of this website or its location. That will be revealed tomorrow at ChristianCentury.org.
I don't know what time it will go online tomorrow. Maybe not until later in the day, but I'll link to it from here. This is all a part of the big transition. Even I don't know where this is going.
