I had this funny picture in my head of a freak-show barker shouting, "Come, See a Real Live Preacher".

Too Obscure I Guess

This is going to spoil things a bit, but I'm getting some email from confused people.

Okay, you can't understand today's post without reading yesterday's post, especially the part in red from yesterday. It's like my alter ego, rlp, was talking about me on Tuesday, and he said he had the power to keep me from reading what he wrote so it would be a secret between "him" and you.

So I show up on Wednesday, act like Sunday's post removal was no big deal, just like he said I would, but it WAS a big deal and you know it was because "he" told you it was. And somehow I can't read yesterday's post so I don't know he told you that stuff. blah, blah blah...

Kind of a joke. Get it?

Now that I explain it, it sounds really dumb even to me. I should just write stuff and put it online, you know? Stop inventing all kinds of inner characters to do my dirty work.

I’m Back and What’s the Deal With all the Email?

The retreat was wonderful. Just what I needed. There were seven of us. Five pastors, all of us rather out of the loop and a little out of synch. And two guys who are heading for seminary. Matt from Correction, and Jeremy, a young guy from Austin who showed up at my church a couple of weeks ago and announced that he was going to seminary. We had lunch to talk about it, and now he’s a friend. That’s how things like that happen sometimes.

Anyway, we drank beer, played pool, and pretty much talked for 36 hours straight. This is the first of what we hope will become a regular event. So there was a lot of "getting to know you better" stuff going on.

Oh and hey listen, about that essay I pulled on Sunday. It’s no big deal, really. I don’t let things like that bother me. I’m a professional writer now. I can’t spend any energy worrying about some comments, right? So it’s cool. You know, the essay itself probably just needs a little work. I put it in my greenhouse with the hundreds of other essays that need a little more time...and maybe a little more prayer.

But really, all the emails! You guys are great. Stop it now.

This is weird thoughSomeone posted something on my weblog yesterday, but it’s just a bunch of gibberish. I can’t read it. I tried to delete it, but it can’t. I’m pissed at the Radio software folks. I can’t find anything in their FAQ about this. So I do know about the unreadable mess that was posted on Tuesday. No need to email me about it. I guess it will just work its way off the page in a few days, and this will be over.

Funny how things work themselves out, huh?

So I'm ready to get into some serious writing, but it's going to be a few days. The retreat got me a little behind in my schedule, and I've got a number of websites with deadlines. And of course the ever looming sermon and worship coming up on Sunday.

I'll see you when I see you.
