Some Real Life Updates
The Car Accident
Well, I heard from the body shop today about our minivan. It turns out getting hit was the best thing that could have happened to me. First, you should know that my front bumper had become a little detached and was hanging down. This happened sometime last fall. I secured it with a piece of wire about 4 months ago. It really didn't look that bad, but yes, my bumper was being held together with a clothes hanger. I'm just saying...
So when I took it into the body shop, I asked if they could find a way of reattaching the bumper so that I wouldn't have to buy a new one. It wasn't part of the accident repairs, but as long as it was in the shop, right? Today I got a call. First, they will be fixing the car. They didn't total it. Second, the guy said they could drill some new holes in the bumper and reattach it for me. NO CHARGE! Plus, these guys wash and detail your car before they give it back to you.
So let's recap, shall we? A guy smashes into my car. Some people call me and tell me to take it to a body shop. They will be paying. They provide me with a nice, new Buick LeSabre to use while mine is in the shop. Further, they are going to fix my bumper for me, even though it wasn't damaged in the accident, AND they are going to clean and detail my car. The guy apologized and told me that it will be March 11th before they can get the van to me.
So I have to drive the Buick, the nicest care I've driven in awhile, until then. Did I mention that I'm okay with all of this?
Driving: The Challenge Of The Adolescent Years
A couple of days ago I made seven trips taking girls one place or another.
- To the elementary school in the morning.
- To the middle school in the morning.
- To the high school in the morning.
- To the high school to pick up in the afternoon and drop off two of her friends.
- To horse riding lessons for the middle daughter.
- To driver's ed for the oldest daughter.
- Pick up middle daugther from lessons.
- Pick up oldest daughter from driver's ed.
This is unbelievable. And NO, it is no comfort thinking of my oldest daughter driving her sisters around for me. I'm sure I'll get comfortable with that eventually, but not right now. I'd like to have my own life please. Is that too much to ask?
The Next Post
My next posting will definitely be a Foy Davis Story. It will be in two parts. Sorry! I actually hate it when I'm reading something and have to wait for the ending, but dividing a story like this helps me deal with the work involved. This story is going to end up being 2000 to 3000 words. I work better dividing it into two parts. Part one is close to finished, so watch for it later this week or over the weekend.
