The Wittenburg Door
I got my hands on my first copy of The Wittenburg Door magazine when I was a religion major at Baylor University back in the early 80s. I fell in love instantly. It was like Mad Magazine for Christians. It was religious satire, by Christians, about Christians, and for Christians.
Every cool minister I knew read it.
Interviews, satirical essays, goofy lists, and my favorite of all - "Truth is Stranger Than Fiction," the part of the magazine that displayed strange but true items from the world of Christianity. If you look behind the door in my office, you'll find a stack of classic issues dating back to the late 1970s.
Times have changed of course, and The Wittenburg Door is now available online. I'm thrilled to tell you that the latest issue has an article about TV Preachers from - you guessed it - yours truly.
Can you imagine how excited I was that "The Door" published something of mine? I'm still giddy about it. It's one of the essays I wrote for the book that never appeared here at Real Live Preacher. Click here if you want to read it.
peace,
