Greetings and welcome to the
weblog I call "Real Live Preacher." If you clicked on this link, I assume
you're new to "blogging" and are wondering what a weblog is.
A weblog is a specialized
website that is usually an online journal of some kind. There are
millions of weblogs currently on the internet. Weblogs are sometimes
called "blogs" and those who write them are often called "bloggers."
In order to start a weblog,
you have only to download specialized blog software, usually free or for
a small fee, and begin posting in a blog community. I am a part of the
salon.com blog community, which you can read more about
here.
How is a blog organized?
Well, on the main page of most blogs, you will find the latest seven
entries. The last entry is on top. If you want to read a blog
chronologically, go to the bottom of the main page and read the earliest
entry, then move up the page. It feels backwards until you get used to
it. Each time a blogger posts something, the oldest entry is moved off
the main page and into the archives.
I write essays, which I
put into my
story archive. I also
write personal notes about my life which can only be found by using the
calendar.
About the Comments
- Most weblogs include a feature that allows readers to leave comments. No one
can control what you say here, so the usual
rules of polite
conversation apply. Just click on "leave a comment" and start writing. Be patient after you hit the "submit" button. Hitting it two or
three times will post your comment multiple times, marking you as an
obvious newcomer! It's okay if it happens. No one minds.
So welcome. Use the menu
and enjoy the archives.
Peace,
rlp
