Today I read where the state of California was trying to pass a law forcing credit card companies to spell out exactly for customers how long it would take to pay off their balances if they only made the minimum payment each month. The law was overturned, in part because the credit card companies complained that it essentially forces them to tell their customers "Don't use our product." Well, cigarette companies have been saying that to people for YEARS, and it sure hasn't stopped many people from smoking.
