So, yesterday Tori Clarke at the Pentagon issued a challenge to the Iraqi regime: "yeah, where's Saddam? Why isn't he on TV?"
And this morning, CNN was in a lather about 'any minute now, he's due to appear, Iraqi TV says so! Live!' Christiane Amanpour pointed out, though no one listened, that he's never appeared 'live' in his life.
What actually happened was predictable. The ugliest guy in Iraq, the 'information' minister, #1 liar of this pack of scoundrels, the one whose nose the flies cannot stay off ... he appears and reads a totally incoherent speech that says absolutely nothing, even if you were a religious kook. I don't imagine the Iraqis are going to be fooled much longer, so why are we?
Afterwards, it almost made me piss with laughter to see the appalling Wolf Blitzer -- he's getting worse by the day -- theorizing about why the big creep hadn't appeared, how it would have rallied the Iraqis, etc., in a complete state of excitement, as though he was on the Iraqi side. Well, maybe he is. He's certainly been one of the arch peddlers of 'not enough troops,' 'not according to plan,' 'the irregulars are going to overwhelm us,' and other BS of the past week.
Blitzer needs to go the way of Arnett and Rivera. He's a liability. And a useless anchor, at the same time.
