A word of explanation is, perhaps, in order here for those who are not familiar with the far north. An Inukshuk is a cairn of stones vaguely resembling a human form that is used by the Inuit people to mark the trail in an environment that offers no landmarks. Over the years, it has also become a sign of welcome. You will encounter them fairly often in Canada. It's another Canadian custom that I find worth emulating.
INUKSHUK
Here I stand
solitary sentinel
of the frozen desert
Inukshuk I am
in the likeness of Man
lovingly layered
by knowing hands
you who understand
the language I speak
will never stray
I am of the essence
of Mother Earth
here I stand
here I remain
I am the Way
