Wordlist of the week

Yes, I know I didn't post the list last week.  I plead nolo contendere.  What with my day job, the theatre production, and my 90-going-on-5-year-old father, I had to choose between posting and getting my beauty sleep.  God knows, I can ill afford to forego the latter.

The Mikado looks like it will sell out the house start to finish.  As far as I know, that has never before happened in the 75 year history of the Bellingham Theatre Guild.  In honor of that accomplishment, this week's wordlist is taken from Gilbert and Sullivan's rather erudite script.

Sunday - serried  ("Our warriors in serried ranks assemble." - Nanki-Poo)

Monday - connubially ("So he decreed in words succinct that all who flirted, leered or winked [unless connubially linked], should forthwith be beheaded." - Pish-Tush)

Tuesday - aver ("She'll toddle away, as all aver, with the Lord High Executioner." - Pooh-bah)

Wednesday - tutelary ("Three little maids who, all unwary, come from a ladies seminary, freed from its genius tutelary." - Yum-Yum, Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo)

Thursday - apostrophe ("You have interrupted an apostrophe, sir." - Ko-Ko)

Friday - pestilential ("To sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock in a pestilential prison with a lifelong lock." (Pooh-bah, Pish-Tush and Ko-Ko)

Saturday - equipoise ("Oh, blind that seest no equipoise." - Katisha)

All these choice words are contained within the first act.  There may be enough material for another post in the second act.  Stay tuned.
