Cheryl Hall reports in the Dallas Morning News that last Friday's column about Enron's Ken Lay escaping legal repercussions resulted in a flood of indignant e-mail from readers. Not surprisingly, she received not a single e-mail defending Lay.Several readers pointed out the business connections between Lay, Phil and Wendy Gramm, and the Bush administration and asked why anyone was surprised the top Enron execs have escaped indictment. All of the readers expressed hope the issue of corporate malfeasance would not fade any further from public attention. With war immminent, that prospect seems highly unlikely.
