Where the 'rubber meets the road'
Today I am going to try, with logic and reason to offer some glimpse of 'the kindom of divine things' as well as the limitation inherent in even attempting this. To help direct the course of things I am going to use the following article from Secular Blasphemyentitled, Does the Soul or Spirit Really Exist? A Follow-Up and frame a response around it.
The question is - can "god" or the "soul" be perceived with the intellect and reason, and if so to what extent?
Yes, I believe "god" and the soul can be glimpsed through reasoned logic, or at least the front door to them can be seen (though what God is or is not may or may not be anything like what you have in your head). However, to pass through the door, one must surpass the limitations of logic and reason (through meditation or yoga for instance).
Submission #1:
This writing by Eckhart Tolle begins to address the limitations of the mind, intellect, and reason while at the same time it offers some insight into what "god" is and is not.
More food for thought:
As the life of a battery depends only partially upon the chemicals and distilled water supplied it from outside; it also requires the vibrating electric current from the car's generator to recharge it and enable it to produce more energy from the chemicals. A dead automobile battery cannot be recharged by filling it with fresh chemicals; it needs an electrical charge to revive it. Similarly, a dead body cannot be revived by filling its stomach with food and filling its lungs with air. - Parmahansa Yogananda
Of course, it is important to remember that this entire line of discussion is limited to the scope and power of the words we have at our disposal to describe the undescribable. I could talk about a simple photograph for days weeks or years and you would still not know what the photograph 'really' looked like until you experienced seeing it for yourself. Still it is a good endevour I think.
Blessing to everyone,
Caleb

Paragram of the day:
Ambition
We cannot live happily by spiritual sustenance alone nor by material prosperity alone. It is only by having ambition and by crowning that ambition with the idea of service to others, either by helping them individually or by working for some great cause, that you will find a spiritual reason for making money for yourself and others. To help others to help themselves also spiritualizes ambition. An Almighty Power has linked us all together. Whenever you help others you are helping yourself.
