5 days to go!!!!

it's almost here!  i'm humming with excitement and just a wee bit of nervousness.  the nervousness mostly stems from the no job yet situation.  -but- i still have confidence that one of us will be employed shortly.  i keep seeing job ads that fit my experience totally, so off i send a resume.  one (or more!!) will surely bite.  they will.  they've gotta :)

the hard part now is saying goodbye to friends and family.  bleh, i hate that!  but i know they are all just a phone call or email away.  and we'll be coming back here probably once a year.  and hey, san francisco is a good vacation spot so i'm sure we'll get visitors.  (right guys?!?! :)

ahh, that feels good

i updated my resume, finally!!!  and i applied to two jobs this afternoon.  not that i'm expecting a bite from either one but it's time to start looking for work.  now.  not later. (like when we are completely broke and both of us freak out and start to question our decision to move and whether we made a huge mistake and blah blah blah---yes, i guess i've been thinking about that...if it happens...which it's not! we are going to be just fine :)

san fran this weekend.  fingers and toes crossed that we can secure housing before we fly home next week.

because I'm talkin' about the road

there's just been a minor fender bender on the interstate out my window.

i just counted the lanes, there are eleven lanes of interstate right out my window.  i turn my head right and it's there.  needless to say, it's never quiet here.  all day, all night, all the fucking time, vehicles going somewhere.

a state trooper just showed up at the accident

where are they all going?  how can there be so many fucking cars on the road at all times of the day?  growing up in the 'burbs, i had to have a car *stamps foot* when i turned 16.   i did get a car but nothing fancy.  i was lucking enough to inherit (from my sister who inherited it from my grandpa) a 1980's volkswagan rabbit that about 9 years earler i was a small passenger along for a ride to spokane, wa with my grandpa, great grandmother, sister and cousin.   my first road trip, it hooked me.    i was seven and i loved it!  stopping at the cafes and gas stations, eating "road food", my mind wandering and pondering seven year old thoughts as the trees or mountains or cities streamed by out the window, making up silly games with my sister when we grew antsy, sleeping on the floor of the backseat when i grew tired.  every time we stopped anywhere, my cousin would always find an arcade game to play.  i'd stand by him silently and watch him play, he won almost everytime.  he told me i was his good luck charm.

the state trooper left as well as the two cars involved.

The Road

The road is fuckin' hard,
The road is fuckin' tough-ah,
There's no question that-eh
It is rough, rough stuff.
It's the fuckin' road my friend
But it's the only road I know.
When I'm lunchin' on a tasty boosh
Right after the show.
You g-go go go!

The road is fuckin' hard,
It's also really fuckin' tough,
There's no question that
It don't take no guff.
The road is a be-a-itch my friend
But it's the only fuckin' road I know,
When I'm snackin' on a tasty boosh
Right after the show.
You g-go go go!

I met a tasty baby in Michigan.
We screwed two times then I left.
Sometimes I think of my baby in Michigan.
Why can't I stay in one place
For more than two days.
Why?!
Because I'm talkin' about the road. [5X]
Road!

LOL

because there is nothing on tv this afternoon, i popped in South Park, the movie.  background noise ya see.  but damn, this movie makes me laugh.  anyways, big gay al's tune, "i'm super" was just on and well, it just made me laugh.  so from me to you....

Bombs are flying
People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians are lying too.

Cancer is killing
Texaco's spilling
The whole world's gone to hell
But how are you?

I'm super
Thanks for asking
All things considered
I couldn't be better I must say

I'm feeling super
No, nothing bugs me
Everything is super when you're
Don't you think I look cute in this hat

I'm so sorry
Mr. Cripple
But I just can't feel too bad for you right now.
Because I'm feeling
So insanely super
That even the fact that you can't walk
Can't bring me down

[Background singers:]
He's super
Thanks for asking
All things considered
He couldn't be better he must say

[Big Gay Al:]
I'm super
No, nothing bugs me
Everything is super when you're
Don't you think I look cute in this hat
These little pants, this matching tie
That I got at Vogue

I'm super

[Background singers:]
In the barracks and the trenches as well

[Big Gay Al:]
Stick 'em up.

[Background singers:]
Big Gay Al says do ask do tell

[Big Gay Al:]
Skittles

[Background singers:]
Yes he's super and he's proud to be gay

[Big Gay Al:]
OK

[Background singers:]
Everything is super when you're gay!
When you're gay!

ps.

i got me some more of that storage space stuff today :)  so never fear, dear readers, more bad pictures coming soon!

a girlfriend from work loaned me a book, White Teeth by Zadie Smith.  i haven't started it yet but will do so soon.  kelly (the girl from work) said one of the characters grew up a jehovah witness and she thought of me, of course.

i've been slacking in the reading department for the last few months.  right now i'm about halfway through One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which i'll finish today.  shame on me, i saw the movie in 10th grade psych class but never got around to reading the book until now.   "the book" has always been better than "the movie" in my world and cuckoo's nest holds true.

speaking of books, don'cha just love the smell of a bookstore or a library or even just a single book?  mMMmm books.
