the details
so after getting home from a somewhat long interview earlier thursday afternoon, we hear from a friend that his place of employment is hiring. so i head out (after some encouragement and prodding from greg) walking the few blocks to fill out an application. now get this, on my walk there, my phone rings. it's one of my job pimps. i answer the phone across the street from my soon to be place of employment. she has a four day assignment for me, doing video editing (no, i've never done it before and told her so but i guess it's fine.) i tell her i'll take the assignment. i hang up and cross the street while leaving greg a message with my good news.
i go into the store and ask for an application, fill it out and turn it in. i also ask to speak to someone about a job and next thing i know, i'm being led to the back and soon talking with two managers. about 20 minutes later, i'm offered a job. just like that! a quick text message to greg "Im employed!" and then i'm filling out paperwork!
i start next week! and i'm still able to do this four day temp assignment.
i'm pretty exicted to go to work for this company. it's a neighborhood (read: small, not a super or mega or anything) grocery store/market. not a peep from management about my eyebrow ring or my unnaturally bright red hair (i dyed it this weekend, boredom!) i can wear jeans and tennies. i get benefits, a retirement plan and paid time off. and i'm not stuck in a cube all day. oh and 10% off food, beer and liquor. i've grocery shopped there before and it's stocked with good, healthy quality food that's affordable but you won't find oreo cookies or lays potato chips or mountain dew! no big brand names. it's refreshing.
sweet
i should be sleeping, got that assignment that starts at 8am sharp but i'm just too damn exicted!
