picked up

while browsing sfgate.com this am (erm, it's really pm but i just got up) i notice the paper has picked up the story of sending flowers to waiting couples at city hall and apparently it's being called Flowers from the Heartland.  pretty cool!  i also think it's cool this idea started in my hometown, i'm damn proud to be from minneapolis.  anyway, here's the story: rose buds

oh and check it out, arnold demands a halt to the marriages, will anyone is SF listen to him?  i don't think so.

some more gay marriage news

NM weddings halted

The county clerk in Sandoval County, N.M., began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples Friday morning, but by mid-afternoon -- after 67 couples signed up the licenses -- the state attorney general's office declared the licenses invalid and activity at the clerk's office came to a halt.

SF marriage reprieve

Quidachay was the second judge this week to rule against two conservative groups seeking to halt the steady stream of same-sex couples tying the knot and to invalidate more than 3,000 licenses issued since last week. On Tuesday, Judge James Warren refused to issue a stay to stop the marriage procession.

i can't help but be excited over this!  i laughed out loud when i saw two guys on foxnews discussing SF and gay marriage refer to mayor newsom as a renegade.

neat idea

so i got this email from a friend of mine back in mpls today.  inside is  this link: http://www.livejournal.com/community/gay_marriage/53034.html

i think it's a neat idea!  a way to convey support and to send a message that many of us are tired of the debate over marriage.  in the eyes of the government, marriage should only be a contract binding two people to care for each other.  it has nothing to do with religious beliefs.  each of us brings into a marriage our own beliefs about what -being married- means.  some people's religions tell them that a marriage is between a man and woman.  and that's fine, for them,  for their lives.  but why do their religious beliefs override my beliefs?

so anyway, back to the link.  pass it on if yer so inclined!

i haven't been updating very often, i'm not sure why...just living and working, nothing super exciting going on (not like that stopped me from babbling on here before.)  i do have some good news, i got a raise yesterday and as of march 1, greg and i will have medical and dental insurance! yay!  picking a doctor is such a bitch though.  oh well, it's all done and i'll see if i like my choice soon.
