Meanwhile in the Balkans...
Serbs are going to the polls today in their third attempt to choose a president; the country has been without an elected head of state since last December. Democratic reformer Dragoljub Micunovic is expected to beat hardline nationalist Tomislav Nikolic, nicknamed "gravedigger" because of his former job at a cemetery.
But many worry that this vote -- like two previous ones just over a year ago -- will fall short of the 50 per cent turnout needed for it to be considered valid.
If that happens, Serbia may face a constitutional crisis, since there won't be a president available to nominate the new prime minister, following parliamentary elections next month.
It's all much more complicated than I'm making it sound.
