Boobs Behind the Wheel
Having finally reached that dreaded time of life referred to as ‘middle age’ I have done something totally lifestyle-changing. From the time of my teenage years when I started having a bit of control over my lifestyle, to my early 40's, I chose to live my life different from the norm. The people I enjoyed being with were different from the every ‘day’ people; they
chose, like me, to see a different world, one filled with shadows and mysteries. What I am speaking of is people who prefer to work at night. For practically all of my working life I was a night worker--from nursing to bartending to waitressing
to aquaculture. Whenever possible I worked nights.
But not now. Now I am waking with the majority at 5 am, instead of just going to sleep. I no longer need the black film over my bedroom windows. I now know what it is like to time my drive to work so I miss the traffic snarls.
And the one thing all my life that has set my teeth on edge, that has ruffled my feathers, that has got me on my soap box ..I find is actually true!! Before, every time I would hear some MAN open his mouth and start bad mouthing ‘women drivers’ I would see RED! I would fume and argue, and rant and rave..How dare they, the testosterone laden, brain malfunctioning, obviously oxygen deprived, poster children for abortion rights!! How dare they say that most of the bad drivers on the roads were women. The statistics proved me right..! Women’s insurance rates where lower, right? Yes!! Women were at fault in less accidents, right? Yes!! Aaahh, the righteousness of the uninformed!
What I did not know or take into account was the fact that by being a ‘vampire’, what we who worked at night commonly referred to ourselves, was that since very few women are night workers, when I was driving home or going out there were not a lot of women on the road.
But now I am a day worker, and out in the rat race with the other 80% of the population. Now I am coming to realize the truth of the matter. Nine out of ten times I see someone do something dumb on the highway ..it’s a woman! I am totally aghast at this revelation. It’s true we don't get in quite as many accidents, although the stats are changing on a daily basis, but the stats don't reflect how many accidents are actually caused by us.
I have spent quite a bit of time these past few months while on the highways reflecting on this issue and have come to the conclusion that while it may be true that women aren't as astute behind the wheel as I had always claimed. It is still the ‘fault’ of the ‘testosterone laden’ other sex, MEN!! Most girls are taught to drive by their fathers, or driver’s education teachers that are mainly men (as all the fathers are!!).
And I can say with absolute certainty that the several accidents I almost caused while deep in thought about this issue were definitely caused by my thoughts on the woes of women, that are caused by MEN!!
