Tehran girls cross-dress for protection
A New York Times article reports on the growing number of young girls in Tehran dressing and acting like boys in order to find jobs and safety on the streets. Many of the girls are discovered only when they seek medical attention or are arrested for petty crime.
In a country where girls and women are required to cover their heads and conceal the shape of their bodies from the age of puberty, some girls have taken to disguising themselves as boys. They cut their hair short, wear loose-fitting clothes and speak as little as possible. It is not an act of rebellion by Westernized feminists determined to buck the system and cast off the headscarf. Rather, it is a growing phenomenon mainly among lower-class runaways who believe
that the disguise gives them a degree of freedom and protection they could not enjoy as girls. Posing as boys on the streets makes it easier to avoid rape and falling victim to prostitution rings. (more...)
Lesbian monkeys enjoy the sex
A psychologist claims that a group of lesbian monkeys in Japan show that Darwin's theories of evolution are incorrect. Paul Vasey, of the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, has been studying the sex lives of a colony of 120 wild Japanese macaques. These monkeys show enormous sexual diversity, including female-female relationships. Vasey claims, "If females are choosing female sexual partners
over male reproductive partners, that suggests a pretty fundamental revision of sexual selection theory.” (more...)
Huh?? What’s wrong with them just enjoying the sex? We girls do, and evolution did not select out this behavior in us! So what is wrong with some of the species that are a little further down the evolutionary ladder discovering the joys of sex also?
She wants the right to become a mother
Lupita Benitez of San Diego is suing her doctor, Christine Brody, for refusing to perform the artificial insemination procedure she requested. Brody’s stated reason was that it was against her Christian beliefs to help a homosexual become pregnant. The matter is now before the 4th District California Court of Appeal in San Diego. Lawyers for Benitez say that she is entitled to equal treatment under the law, just like any citizen; in other words, her lesbianism
should not block her from receiving artificial insemination. (more...)
