Take Back the Media

“The public airwaves in this country have slowly been taken away from the public.....In the year 2002, our media has abandoned their responsibility to the country. The view that gets advanced is no longer the view of the 'little guy' - it's the view of ownership, of top management, of major corporations. Editorial decisions are made with one eye on the political slant that will best benefit the company, and one eye on the bottom line. The corporate view is tainted, in that it looks for the best way to advance the corporation's financial interests. The result is this - instead of behaving as the Watchdog of Democracy, the media has become the Lapdog of government. “

I was glad to find this site. I am tired of the way the news is being presented. The group is currently organizing a boycott and protest of Rush Limbaugh show advertisers, with other actions to follow. They also have a great flash presentation of the peace rallies here.

Thanks Camille Jack and Blog Sisters for pointing me to this site!

Awards not political?
Television executives are worrying that the live broadcast of the Grammy awards in New York could turn into an anti-war rally. The lead singer from the British rock group Coldplay, who is nominated for two awards, said from the stage of the British Awards on Thursday, "We are all going to die when George Bush has his way, but at least we are going to go out with a bang." A senior CBS executive warned that microphones might be unplugged if any performance turned political. He said: "There is a time for political commentary. This is not one of them." (more...)

What? Since when? None of the awards were lax in their political flag waving last year! I don’t see the difference.

Just creepy, in a winged sort of way
Thursday I killed a wasp that was flying around in my bedroom. Yesterday, I dispatched another from my bedroom. Today, so far, I’ve killed four more in the same room! I know that wasp hatching is a sign of spring, and I welcome that, but how in the hell are they getting in my bedroom, and in such numbers? And why only that room of my house? I’m hoping it is not some sort of freaky omen, because it couldn’t be a good one.....
