No snow boobs....

Crystal Lynn poses in front of a snow woman she made in front of her house in Kent, Ohio. After receiving an anonymous call of an "inappropriate snow figure," Lynn was told by police to remove the breasts or face possible disorderly conduct charges. Lynn decided to cover the breasts of her snow woman with a cloth, a decision that satisfied the local authorities. Some people don’t have anything better to do than to create problems! They are just lumps of snow for goodness sake! It makes me wish I could sculpt some really anatomically correct snowpeople on her neighbor’s yard–some Kama Sutra poses, perhaps.


Good riddance to a bad Florida law
The state of Florida has decided not to defend a court challenge of an adoption law that requires a birth mother to take out legal notices in a newspaper when she is unable to track down a birth father to notify him about adoption proceedings. Under the law enacted in 2001, she has to list her name, describe herself, name or describe the possible father, and list the date and city of conception. Adoption attorney Jeanne Tate of Tampa speculated that the state's decision not to appear at the hearing may be "a tacit concession that the law is unconstitutional and not worth defending."

Charlotte Danciu, the Boca Raton attorney representing four women contesting the law, said she has never heard of a situation in which the state doesn't even attempt to ward off a constitutional challenge. "I've also never heard of such a ridiculous law in the history of the state of Florida," she said. (more...)
