This is just too weird!

Bondage Blonde Tampon

Kim Corbet, Doris Cain, and Nurse Dawna have created a weird, strangely disturbing gallery of tampon art. Their Manifesta states:

Tampon Art is a transformation. Our history has been women bleeding, being isolated, being shamed, and being diapered in rags. But now, we have the opportunity of utilizing an internal absorbent, not just for convenience during menstruation, but for having fun and making art........Who would have guessed that such amazing creations would be possible from a tampon? (more...)

These pieces are reminiscent of the crafty creations that the ladies sell at the retirement center bazaar! They could easily be slipped in among the refrigerator magnets, clothespin dolls, and ceramic frog scrubby holders. Of course, it would be fun to mix some of these in among the usual craft items and watch as shoppers realize what they are handling. I wonder how many would drop them hurriedly and rush off?

Klein Texas Independent School District officials said Wednesday they had no choice under federal law but to approve a Gay-Straight Alliance club at Klein High School. This is a victory for Marla Dukler and the other students who petitioned to establish the club. However, I was personally appalled by some of the reported statements that were made by the school board and the parents organization in the area:

"Until that law is changed, there will be groups entering campuses that people locally do not favor," Superintendent Jim Surratt said. "Our business is academics. ... Putting on carnivals related to sexual preference is not what the purpose of the school system is." (Carnivals??)

Concerned Parents of Klein, a group formed to oppose the GSA, expressed disappointment. Two members, Jeff Lokey and Jeff Lovett, attended Klein's news conference and peppered officials with questions. Lokey said the alliance is not appropriate because "students shouldn't make life-altering decisions at 16, 17 years old." (what is choosing a college/vocational path or dating seriously?)

Concerned Parents will push the district to install separate bathrooms and locker rooms for homosexual students. "I don't want my son hopping in the shower with (a gay) person," Lokey said. "We wouldn't allow a heterosexual boy and a heterosexual girl to shower together."

And they said that this club/support group wasn’t necessary!
