Friday’s Favorite Five
This week has flown! Yesterday was our last teacher workshop of the school year,
so I am officially ‘finished’! Not that I get the summer off or anything,
but the whole focus of my work-life shifts to publishing the curricula activities
we have written this past year and getting some funding proposals written and
submitted. The fact that the student/teacher stuff ceases for three months makes
it seem like a vacation–and a time to celebrate! I hope this week has zipped
by for you, and that you are also looking forward to some weekend frivolities.
For openers on this week’s favorite five I have to tell you about another
new mother who takes out her frustrations by weaving incredibly funny, and sometimes
achingly true tales. Heather, writer of Dooce,
makes me remember what it was like to be a new mother. But even better, she
makes me laugh!
I am on a low-carb diet which is more South Beach than Atkins, but more ‘me’
than either one. I am watching carbs, but also keeping an eye on calories, wholeness
of the food, and taste. I have picked up many low-carb processed foods at my
market, and then set them down when I read the ingredients. So, I read with
interest the opinions of the food reviewers who aren't on a diet and don't have
tainted taste buds. ...Sawdust! ...Cardboard! ...Gluey! This is the funniest
food
review I have read in a long time, and makes me glad that I have not succumbed
to the low-carb processed foods that are appearing at my grocery store.
What kind of coffee am I? Well, since I love my Cuban roast coffee very hot
and very strong, this quiz
pretty much pegged me.
You Are a Double Espresso
Hey Energizer Bunny Girl! Do you ever slow down? You're a mix of high energy
and ambition, perfectly matched with strong espresso. When you want something
you get it - by any means possible. You're driven, determined, and no nonsense.
Which is just how you like your java.
Here is a game for those who have a little bit of extra time. I marked this
one, Floats,
a couple weeks ago and just now got around to checking it out. Simple concept,
simple fun, very relaxing, but also very engaging. Draw a circle around the
moving shapes that are the same color. I keep thinking that if I just take a
deep breath and become one with the movement that I will be able to get them
all. Oh well, maybe I’ve been reading too much eastern theory!
Martin’s Bunny Blog pick for Friday is the Bunny
Sutra ads in Times Square. You have to realize that it is Spring...a time
for shedding and humping (at least if you are a rabbit!). Martin is obsessed,
so I am not surprised that he would want to replay the pictures of this Swatch
ad–rabbit porn–until I take the computer away from him and shoo
him out to his porch. Although I have to admit, it is cute. I would love to
have one of these watches!
And since Martin had the last link, here is a picture of the guy, sunning himself,
before the dreaded spring shedding began.
