Today we introduce another new voice who will be posting on Sundays for MSCLL. We are really growing...KBH on Tuesdays, Scotti Blue on Thursdays and Izzy on Sundays! Please make them feel at home....

Let me introduce myself
Hi everyone, my name is Izzy and this is my first post. I'd like to start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I'm 37 y/o, divorced (hey, I'm not the only lesbian out there who was stupid enough to marry a man...lol, which is why I'm happily divorced and OUT) and I have three great kids. I've been with my current g/f for almost five years. We've had our ups and downs just like any couple. She's ten years younger than me ( ooh-la-la ). It took me a long time to come out of the closet and it took a lot of courage but I'm here, I'm queer so they'll have to get used to it. A few people weren't as accepting as I'd hoped. On a good note, my mom and grandmother grew to love my g/f. I'm a banker here in Upstate N.Y. The strange thing about my relationship is that whenever my g/f and I are out on the town....People seem to sense something. We are often asked if we are sisters. We always say " umm...yeah, we're sisters uh-huh, yeah".

Ever try going to Church with your g/f ? Wow, now that's a trip. After the service, there was a dinner. My g/f finishes her plate and decides to eat from my plate. A curious friend is watching this (she has no clue I'm gay) and politely asks if we're related. Now, I don't know about any of you but no one but my g/f has ever shared a plate of food with me and in my mind I was thinking..."This is something a couple would do". Being that we were in church and the fact that I was now feeling very nervous, we both reply "No, we're not related" and we left it at that. I'm not ashamed of who I am but images of being tied to a post and set on fire quickly came to mind (I exaggerate). When my Pastor found out that I was gay, he politely fired me from working in the Church. I forgive him although I was furious for a long time.

I was your typical tomboy growing up, and at 13 I firmly told my mom and dad...NO MORE DRESSES.. Today, my g/f is graduating from college and I can't be there! I'm in the process of moving back to my hometown which is only 15 min. away. Weekends are precious and I try to cram everything into those two days...Spend time with kids, clean the house, packing, etc. Later tonight, my g/f is coming over (She live's two hours away). Life is so busy we hardly get to spend quality time together.

So this is my first post. It's not exactly what I thought it would be but it gives you some idea of who I am...I guess ?! Since I love writing and I love writing poetry, I think that I'll have interesting posts. I like to write with a sense of humor but when I create a poem, it's usually romantic (my g/f loves my poems and usually cries -- I reap the benefits late at night-- If you know what I mean!).

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.....Izzy
